Abstract

In view of the pressing social and regulatory demands of aligning banks’ operational and strategic practices with environmental sustainability principles, this study examines the mediating role of green psychological climate in the relationship between green human resource practices and environmental performance, drawing evidence from the banking sector of Pakistan. Drawing on AMO theory, RBV, and climate theory, 359 conveniently selected banking sector professionals completed a survey questionnaire. The results of hierarchical regression analysis and Hayes’ PROCESS revealed that GPC partially mediates the relationship between GHRMPs and environmental performance, such that some of the effect of GHRMPs is direct on EP. At the same time, some of it is channelized through GPC to translate environmental outcomes. This study also discusses the results in the light of previous studies, followed by implications and directions for further research.
